Music Orchestra
Children in Years 3 – 6 were treated to a music recital given by The Brighton & Hove Music Service Orchestra. They played a variety of music and the children thoroughly enjoyed it.
Attendance and Punctuality
Mark Flemming our Education Welfare Officer has been in school to talk to the children about the importance of being in school and arriving on time.
If your child arrives in school after the close of register at 9.30 a.m. this is classed as an unauthorised absence unless they have been for a medical appointment. There has been a high level of lateness recently. Please make sure that your children are in school on time each day. It is a legal requirement for parents to ensure that children not only attend school, but are punctual.
Start of the Day
At the start of the school day some parents have been going upstairs into the shared areas with their children and also walking through the quiet room. This can be very disruptive and delays registration. Unless you need to come to the school office, could you please say good bye to your children in Years 3 to 6 in the playground. Also, please wait in the playground at the end of the day.
Industrial Action
You may have heard through the local news that Education Support Staff in schools in Brighton and Hove are planning strike action next week. There has been a ballot of members of the GMB and Unison unions, which did vote for industrial action as part of their dispute with the City Council over re-grading, and pay and conditions. The information that I have is that there will not be a strike next Wednesday 17th November, as had been anticipated. However, the possibility of industrial action still exists for the week commencing 22nd November. I will keep you fully informed of how this situation develops and how it will effect this school.
Lost property
Please check the lost property each week. You will find it in a large wire container in the corridor by the hall.
Rememberance Day
At 11.00am on Thursday 11th November the children and staff observed two minutes silence.
Healthy Eating
If your child brings an orange in for their snack or lunch could you please either peel it and put it into a plastic container or cut it into quarters. They seem hard for the children to peel at the moment.
