Christmas Fayre News

The Fayre organised by the School Association is very nearly here – it will be held tomorrow, Saturday, 4th December between 12.00 and 4.00 p.m.

The preparations are going very well, several parents and carers have been very busy organising the stalls and events. We do hope that as many of you as possible will turn up to the Fayre. Please bring your friends and relatives too, the more the merrier!

There will be so much to buy and to do, including:

Christmas Raffle

Tombola

Bottle stall

Craft stalls

Cakes and biscuits

Fun and Games stalls

Craft making

Toys, games and book stalls

Make over stall

Name the Teddy

Guess the weight of the cake

And entertainment including:

Christmas carols by the choir at 3p.m.

Live music

And our very own café with food and drink, including festive mulled wine.

And a magical Santa’s grotto!

Have a great time at the Fayre – get into that Christmas mood, and support the school too.

Well done…..

I have been told that Dillon Bartelds, who is in Year 2, has gained an award for swimming 50 metres. That’s a wonderful achievement Dillon, we are very proud of you.

I have also been told about Unity Eubank in Year 4 who has gained her purple belt in Karate. That’s excellent Unity, congratulations and keep it up.

Also, well done to Ben Guilford-Pearce in Year 1 who has been awarded a trophy by Preston Park Soccer School. Not only was Ben named “Man of the Match” on Saturday 27th November, but he was also recognised for his enthusiasm and focus during his 9 months with the club. That’s something to be very proud of, Ben.

We are always delighted to hear about the children’s achievements outside school – it is nice to be able to share their good news with others in the school, so do let us know what they have been up to.

Head Lice

Oh dear, they are back again. There have been quite a few cases of head lice recently, especially in Years 3 and 4. Please check your child’s hair, and treat as necessary.

Christmas Shows

A letter has been sent home about the children’s Christmas performances. The dates for the shows are:Tuesday 14th December

9.30 – 10.00 Nursery -Year 2

10.15 – 11.15 Years 3 – 6

Wednesday 15th December 2.15 – 2.45 Nursery -Year 2

3.15 – 4.15 Years 3 – 6

There are some reply slips attached to the letter, please return these as soon as possible to help the teachers to organise the shows.

Tickets for the shows are available now from the office – initially two per family per show, although there may well be some extras available nearer the time.

Does anyone have a jacket with tails that we could press into action for the Junior Christmas show? Please let Ms Hadgkiss, or the office staff know if you do.

Important Dates – Strike Action

The last day of this school term is Tuesday 21st December. There is a training day for staff on Wednesday 5th January and the children were due to return on Thursday 6th January. There has been a strong indication from Unison and GMB unions, however, that further strike action by the Teaching Assistants has been planned for next Friday, 10th December and Thursday 6th January. It is likely that the school will, therefore, be closed on those two strike days, so please make contingency plans in case the strike does go ahead. I will inform you as soon as I know for certain whether or not the school will close on those dates.
