Welcome Back!
Finally the sun is shining again today! It’s great to see everyone back after what I hope was a holiday of chocolate delights! If you are a new to our school then we are delighted you have joined us and a special welcome to you. There are lots of fantastic Learning Journeys taking place this term and already classrooms are looking colourful and exciting. The teachers and teaching assistants spend a lot of time in the holidays preparing for each Learning Journey. I am, as I am sure you are always impressed by their dedication to make each Learning Journey special and exciting for the children. Do let your teacher know if you have a special skill or expertise that you can share with the class.
Scooters in Racks Please
Please could scooters be stored in the scooter racks outside and not in the school foyer or cloakrooms. If you need a security bar we can give you one for a deposit of £1. Please ask for one at the office as we now have some available.
After School Clubs
After school club letters were sent home yesterday. If you did not receive one please ask your child. If that request fails please ask for a copy at the office.

Chess Tournament
Our chess experts are off to Fairlight Primary School this afternoon with Mr Smart for a chess tournament. Good luck!
On-Time Teds
This week’s Key Stage 1 winners are Year 1 with 1 late mark and in Key Stage 2 the winners are Year 3 and Year 5 with 2 late marks each. Well done to all three classes for being so exceptionally punctual. Well done and thank you to Cam in Year 2 who reminded us all in assembly today that it is essential to be in school on time so that you are not missing out on important learning.
Cricket Coaching
Year 5 and 6 are about to begin cricket coaching sessions in school. On Friday 27th April groups of children form Year 5 and Year 6 will spend the day with Mr Brazil at the county cricket ground in Hove watching a county match. All of this has been organised for us by Sussex County Cricket Club. Mr Brazil will accompany the children.
Children’s Parade
The children’s parade takes place on Saturday 5th May. You should receive a letter today with more information. Thank you to those parents and carers who are helping in our parade workshops.
Queens Diamond Jubilee
Mrs Denyer is organising a street party to celebrate the Queens Diamond jubilee. She has applied to have Boyces Street closed for the afternoon of Friday 1st June so the party really is a street party. If any parents or carers are interested in getting involved with this event please speak to Vanessa Denyer who can be found in the Nursery on Wednesdays to Fridays.
Congratulations to..
Alex in Year 3 and his mum who successfully completed the Brighton Marathon on Sunday. Mum pushed Alex in his wheelchair for the full marathon. Alex and his mum were raising money for the AMAZE charity. Quite an achievement for both of them! Well done Alex (and his mum of course).
Lily in Year 3, another marathon runner who ran the mini mile marathon in 8 minutes and raised £20 for the Martlets Hospice. Well done Lily!
Class Photos
A date for your diary is Thursday 24th May when each class will have their photograph taken.
