The school will be closed to children on Thursday 17th October due to the teachers strike. Please see attached flyer.

Tennis Lesson

On Thursday Year 4 enjoyed a professional tennis lesson led by the Preston Park Tennis Club. Its great to see some of our budding Andy Murrays perfecting their skills.

Walk To School Week

Next week is walk to school week (although cycling and scootering are also acceptable). So limber up those leg muscles and get those comfy walking shoes on ready to walk to school.

Football Match

Middle Street football team will be playing Coldean Primary on Tuesday 15th October. Mr Brosnan will accompany the team to the match.

Silly Dressing Up Day

Pay £1 and wear something wild and wacky to school on the last day of half term (Thursday 24th October). Be as imaginative and as colourful as you can. The money raised will go towards buying some new playtime games and equipment such as a new hockey set, foam balls for football and new champ balls.

What a Great Knit!

A Middle Street mum has featured today on Sussex Radio talking about her creative knitting and crocheting. I am told that one of her creations will feature on tonight’s ‘Have I Got News For You’. Katrina Stiff creates, with her crochet hook, doll characters (she has created one or two doll characters from school) for use as decoration or pin cushions. More recently she has created some of the more controversial political character dolls. Katrina sells her creations on line at www.etsy.com . Take a look they are very amusing. One character in particular has caused great fun for those of us who work in education.

On-Time Teds

This week’s Key Stage 1 winners are Year 1 and in Key Stage 2 the winners are Year 3. Well done to both classes for being on time for school!

PTA Halloween Disco

The PTA are running a Halloween disco for all the children on Wednesday 23rd October 3.30 till 4.30. Tickets and payment will be on entry. All children must be accompanied by an adult. No large groups of children with one adult please. We must insist for the safety and happiness of all children (and the adults) that parents and carers take full responsibility for the behaviour of the children in their care.

Christmas Show

Our Christmas shows take place this year in the afternoon of Thursday 12th December. Put the date in your diary.

Lost

Charlie in Year 3 has lost his book. It’s ‘The Third Wheel – Diary of a Wimpy Kid’. If you come across it please return to Charlie or hand in at the office.

Karim in Year 2 has lost a blue hoodie with a superman logo on the front.

Autumn Half Term Break

We break for the autumn half term on Thursday 24th October and return to school on Tuesday 5th November.
