We Won!

Ms Busby and the children who attended the Brighton Primary/Junior Schools Athletic Championships on Wednesday have been beside themselves with excitement as they were the overall winners in their division and won the cup! Lots of gold medals were also awarded too. Ms Busby could hardly bear to listen to the final results during the announcements. A very big THANK YOU Ms Busby and all the adults who went along to help and a ginormous WELL DONE to all the children from Years 4, 5 and 6 who took part.

Canterbury Tales

There will be a tale to tell I’m sure when Mr Collins, Mrs Walker and I return from the Teaching Awards ceremony on Monday next week. The ceremony is to be held in Canterbury Cathedral and takes place over most of the day. As you know Mr Collins is one of three finalists for the region which is a great achievement and we are very pleased he has reached this stage. The winner of the regional awards then goes forward to the national round. Good Luck Mr Collins from everyone at Middle Street!

Islands in the Hall

We hope you enjoyed the Art Exhibition displayed over Wednesday and Thursday. I am sure you were intrigued by the Metamorphic Islands and their inhabitants. The children had a great time creating the islands and they especially enjoyed working in mixed age groups and family groupings for the week.

Sadly, we have nowhere to store the islands so we would like to offer you the opportunity to take an island home to keep. If you would like to own you very own island please collect it by the end of the day on Monday.

Oh we do like to be Beside the Seaside!

Year One enjoyed a walk along the lower promenade this week. They were exploring the seafront as part of their Seaside History topic.

Royal Pavilion

Year 2 visited the Royal Pavilion on Thursday as part of their Geography topic looking at the local area and famous inhabitants.

A Gathering of Governors

The Governing Body gathered on Wednesday afternoon to discuss their successes and strengths and then discussed developments for the next academic year. As you may be aware our Governing Body is quite newly formed and membership has built up over the year. They are a great team and we are very lucky to have such a knowledgeable and committed Governing Body.

Sports Day at Withdean

Sports day for Years 1 to 6 is at Withdean on Thursday morning. We hope you are able to come along and cheer the teams on. There is of course a parents race and I have heard whispers there is to be a staff race too.

Win It on Thursdays

Gary is aware that we will all be at Sports Day on Thursday so he has arranged to miss a week and hold the Win It on Thursday competition on the following Thursday 5th July.

Book Machine Book Fair

‘The Blue and Green Book Machine’ will be displaying books for you to look through during the week beginning 2ndJuly. This enables you to browse through the books before ordering from the leaflet. You should receive book title and order leaflets the week before.

Reminders:

Please could all children with long hair (including boys) tie it back while they are in school. We are having lots of problems with headlice and long loose hair allows headlice to move with ridiculous ease from head to head.

Basketball Club

will take place on Tuesday next week instead of Thursday.
