Can You Help? – We Need an Art Club volunteer

We would really like to have an Art after school club running after Christmas. At the moment we don’t have any one in school available to run one. We were wondering if there is a parent/carer feeling creative and would like to run a club for us. If you are interested or you have a friend who would like to volunteer please let us know. Materials etc are all provided.

Bike It Assembly

Gary Shipp from Bike It will be leading a ‘Brighten Yourself Up’ assembly on Monday morning discussing keeping safe when cycling especially as the dark afternoons draw in.

Disability Equality Duty

Amendments have been made to the Disability Discrimination Act which now require public bodies to positively and actively promote disability equality. Primary Schools are obligated to have a short and long term plan detailing how they will meet the duty. This plan must be in place by December. At Middle Street we have begun this process and will have a plan in place before the beginning of December. We are very positive about the act and how it fits very well with our school vision of inclusion. There is still a lot for us to do here at Middle Street to promote disability equality and we will be keeping you up to date with progress. In the Spring Term we will asking parents/carers, staff, governors and children to help us identify further areas for development.

Congratulations to…

Lila Rose in Year 6 who was runner up in the Sussex Arts 2007 competition. Lila entered a beautiful painting she had created. Well done Lila! I have also heard that Lila has been auditioning for the ITV show ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ and apparently did very well.

Polling Day Closure

Please remember we will be closed on Thursday 13th December as the school is to be used as a polling station.
