Anti-Bullying Week

Next week is Anti-Bullying week. To mark the week next Friday will be ‘Blue Friday’. Everyone is asked to come to school wearing something blue to show our solidarity against bullying.

Sorting the Library
We are having a great big sort out in our school library at the moment. We have cleared out all the old and out of date books and will gradually be replacing them with lovely new books. We have put some money aside from the school budget to buy new books. If you wish to make a donation to our book fund you would be very welcome but we will no longer accept second hand books.

Young Hamlet

Year 5 and Year 6 enjoyed a performance of Young Hamlet at the Dome, this week. Following the performance the children were given a very informative and interesting talk about the play.

School Nurse Assembly

Our school nurse will be introducing herself to the children in an assembly next week. She will explain to the children her role in school and answer any questions. Our school nurse is also eager to offer her services to parents so please don’t hesitate if you have any health concerns about your child please make us aware if you would like a referral to the school nurse.

Important School Security Message

Please use the main school gate to exit the school in the mornings if you are leaving after 9.00am. Please do not open and exit the school via the small side gate from the main playground. This gate is locked at 9.00am by the caretaker to ensure the school is secure. Unfortunately this side gate has been left open by parents many times recently and therefore compromises the security of the school.

Congratulations to…

Kai Scott Bridge and Amelia Thornton, both in Year 6 who performed at the Pavilion Theatre last Friday evening. The both had parts in the Bandbazi Youth Circus theatre company’s production of ‘A Place for Us’. The company put on an amazing performance telling true stories of the refugees and asylum seekers who are also members of the company. Well done Kai and Amelia!

Middle Street Road Block

I have been informed that at some point over the next two weeks Middle Street will be blocked again, but this time at the top of the road as it turns towards Ship Street. So you will be able to access the school but you will then have to exit Middle Street via Boyces Street

Mr Brazil Needs Help!

Mr Brazil is busy planning ahead to the Brighton Festival’s Children’s Parade. He would like parent/carer volunteers to form a working party with him to begin preparations for the parade. The theme this year is Children’s Games. The Middle Street game will be ‘What’s the Time Mr Wolf’. Please let Mr Brazil know via the office if you would like to take part in the Children’s Parade working party.
