Happy New Year

A very Happy New Year to you all! I am very pleased to welcome you back to school and the new term. I hope you all had a very enjoyable and fun Christmas.

Just a little reminder that Ms Katie Whiting is our acting Deputy and SENCo for this term.

Snow Sorry Again!

I can’t believe it happened again! I am so sorry we had to close again and this time for 3 days. Thank you so much for being so understanding about the situation. Our problem is staff getting to school when there is no public transport. However on this last Wednesday following the snow fall public transport remained in action (although limited) and staff were able to get to school as normal.

I am also now an expert on the weather and I could see that the snow was going to move away and the thaw was going to continue. I was able to predict there would be no problems at home time either.

Captain Cholesterol and the Grannies for Mars

Years 3 and 4 enjoyed an amusing musical comedy on healthy eating which links in to their PSHE project they are currently working on. The show was performed on Thursday morning by the Quantum Theatre.

Goodbye Mr Collins

Today we were finally able to say goodbye to Mr Collins in assembly. We should have been waving him off on the last Friday of but of course the snow disrupted those plans. The snow then fell again and disrupted our plans for last week. Finally the snow has cleared and Mr Collins joined us for this week’s Celebration assembly. Mr Collins was awarded a special celebration certificate, good luck cards from the children and we sung Mr Collins favourite song ‘Sunshine in My Heart’. Obviously we made him join in with the signing and a little dance.

You may be interested to know that we have advertised the Deputy Head post this week. We hope to appoint in February and hopefully the successful candidate will join us for the Summer term.

Year 5 Swimming

Unfortunately Year 5 swimming was cancelled due to the weather on Wednesday. Swimming sessions will start next Wednesday. Children should meet at the pool entrance at 8.45 am. Parents and carers should wait with their child until Ms Busby arrives. Please do not leave your child unaccompanied as we cannot ensure their safety.

On Time Teds

The winners this week are in the Infants; Year 1 and in the Juniors Year 6. Well done to both year groups

Autumn Term On Time Ted Winners

The overall On Time Ted winners for the Autumn Term are Year 2 who won the On Time Ted 8 times last term and Year 3 who won 6 times. Congratulations and very well done to both classes. Each class wins £25 to spend on whatever they choose for their classroom.

Mrs Denyer would like any old bicycle wheels you may have for part of her leaning journey.

School Meals please remember that school dinners must be paid for in advance. We have rather a large debt already this term.

Half Term Holiday

School closes for the half term break at 3.05 pm on Friday 12th February and re-opens on Monday 22nd February
