Year 4 and Mr Booth
On Tuesday Year 4 went along to the Booth museum in Hove. Their ‘Wonderland’ Learning Journey has been all about exploring life in Victorian times. They met ‘Mr Booth’ and found out how he came to begin his collection of birds. The children then became scientists in Mr Booth’s laboratory.
Year 5 and 6 See Stars
Year 5 and Year 6 have been seeing stars as part of their Lost in Space Learning Journey. On Tuesday the children visited the Planetarium which was in the school hall for the afternoon. In the evening they all went on a night walk at Stanmer Park with their teachers and parents and carers.
Dancing at the Dome
Year 3 performed their fabulous Bollywood dance at the Dome on Tuesday evening. The children were confident natural performers and looked brilliant in their colourful costumes made for us by Carmen’s mum. Thank you to Ms Moriarty for supporting the children with their performance and accompanying the children to the Dome. Thank you to Mr Rowlands, Ms Sinclaire and Ms Warren who all helped on the evening.
Friendly Football
Ms Martin our Learning Mentor has been supporting the football after-school club. Her enjoyment and enthusiasm led her to organise some friendly matches with other local schools. On Tuesday the Years 5 and 6 mixed team played at Somerhill and played brilliantly winning some games. On Thursday the Years 3 and 4 mixed team played at Downs Juniors. Well done to both teams and thanks to those parents who were able to help out. A special thank you to Ms Martin for organising the matches.
Learning Journey Celebrations
This term’s Learning Journeys are coming to an end, so celebrations are imminent. Reception children are going out for a picnic party at Glynde. They will travel there on the train. Year 1 and Year 2 are inviting parents in to share children’s work and Year 2 will also share their photos of their trip to London on Thursday. Year 3 are planning activities for their parents and carers to join in with on Tuesday. Year 4 held a Mad Hatters Tea party today and Year 5 celebrated Billy the Alien’s return. Year 6 held their celebration space party today.
Lights Out
Today all the lights in school were switched off for an hour to support the World Earth day and help develop environmental awareness.
Nursery Would Like
A donation of a small plastic greenhouse would be very gratefully received. If you have one that you are able to give to Nursery, please let the office staff know and they will pass on the message, or speak directly to the Nursery staff.
No Keyboard Lessons on Monday 29th March. Lessons begin again on Monday 19th April
On Time Teds The winners this week are again Reception, who had just 3 late marks and Year 5, with only 3 late marks. Well done both classes. I am very pleased to announce the winners of this terms punctuality prize of £25. In the Infants it is Reception and in the Juniors it is Year 5. Hooray! Well done all the children in those classes.
Wet Playtimes
A reminder that children still go out to play when it is raining (for a shorter period of time depending how hard it’s raining). So children will need to wear waterproof outer garments and suitable shoes for wet weather.
