Basic Skills Quality Mark

I am very pleased to inform you that Middle Street has achieved the Basic Skills Quality mark award for the fourth time. The assessment process is very rigorous with the assessors looking at a number of different elements to ensure we met the high standards required for achieving the quality mark. All staff worked very hard to ensure  we achieved this important award.

Fred Dinenage and the Royal Wedding

Fred Dinenage from Meridian News will be in school on Wednesday 9th March to film interviews with children. The topic will be the children’s’ thoughts on the up and coming Royal Wedding. We’ll look forward to hearing what the children have to say about the royal couple.

Lets Dance at the Dome

Year 3 are working very hard on perfecting their dance routine in preparation for their performance at the Brighton and Hove dance festival. The event takes place at the Dome on Wednesday 9th March.

Family Information Event

We are holding a Family Information event for parents, carers and school staff from the city centre schools. A number of support services will be on hand to explain what they offer and how you can access support for your child and your family. Our aim is to help make school staff and their families aware of the many services out there which provide help and support. The event takes place here at Middle Street in the school hall on Wednesday 16th march 2.30 – 5.00.

Public Consultation on Restoring the Level

Please see the reverse of the Friday News for more information on the consultation.

Vacancy for General Kitchen Assistant

We have a vacancy in our school kitchen for a general kitchen assistant. The hours are 10 hours a week: 11.30 – 1.30 Monday to Friday. If you are interested in this position please contact the school office and they will tell you how to apply.

Middle Street Grown Ups Choir

The Middle Street choir is still going strong with regular members both male and female. However, we would love more people to come along and join in. If you are interested in joining in the fun come along on a Thursday 5.00 – 6.00 to the school hall. It’s great fun and at the moment it is still free. You can bring friends and other family members with you. The more the merrier. It’s not formal in any way and you will be amazed at the end of just one session you will have sung a whole song brilliantly even if in your view you can’t sing. If you don’t believe come and try it out for yourself. Go on I dare you!

Governors Meeting

The governing body met on Wednesday 2nd March. Minutes of the meeting will be on the Governors board in the school foyer very soon.
