City in Bloom
The judges from City in Bloom visited the school on Wednesday lunchtime to judge our entry to the competition. The gardening club children also had their photos taken for the event.
Nursery Sports Day
Nursery held their sports day sessions on Tuesday and today. Lots of fast running and other exciting events took place and lots of fun was had by all. Each child was awarded a special mini gold cup to mark the event.
Athletic Championships
Our super talented athletes took part in the Brighton and Hove schools athletics championships on Monday. We came 3rd overall in our division. Well done and thank you to all those children who took part.
Swimming Gala
A group of Middle Street excellent swimmers took part in a swimming gala at the Prince Regent pool on Wednesday. Everyone did very well with the girls coming 3rd overall in Brighton and Hove. Well done and thank you to all who took part.
Dance Festival
This evening year 5 children are performing at the Dome as part of the schools family festival. Good luck Year 5!
Performing Arts Day
We enjoyed another fabulous Middle Street performing arts day yesterday. Every class had an opportunity to perform during the day which they did brilliantly. It was also lovely to see so many parents and carers joining us at different times through the day. Your happy smiling faces were a treat to watch as you enjoyed the performances.
Parker Pen Donation
We were recently pleased to accept a generous donation of Parker Pens from Mr Francis Benham of the Parker Pen Company. The donation is greatly appreciated by us all.
Meet the Teacher
Children meet their new teacher on Friday 15th July.
Open Afternoon and Summer Fair.
Parents and carers are invited in on Thursday 14th July from 2.00 to look through their child’s work from the year. When you have done that you are invited to come along to the hall to enjoy an afternoon of fun put on for us by the school’s parents association.
Year 6 Leavers Assembly
Year 6 parents and carers are invited to our Year 6 leaver’s assembly on Wednesday 20th July at 1.30.
On Time Teds
The winners this week are in the Infants; Years 2 and 1 with 1 late marks, and in the Juniors years 4,5 and 6 with 1 late mark. Well done to those classes for being so punctual!
Parents Association
Sadly, we are saying goodbye to a number of parents who have been very active in raising funds for the school through the parents association. They have been outstanding in their commitment to the school and raising grand sums of money for us. We would like to say a big thank you to all of them and we will miss them very much. Many have been parents at the school for many years (I can’t quite imagine the school without them). We are of course now looking for other parents and carers who would like to join those parents left to help ensure the Parents Association continues into the future. Do let me or the office know if you are interested in joining the association.
Summer Holidays
We finish for the summer holidays on Thursday 21st July and return to the new school year on Tuesday 6th September.
Nursery children return on Monday 12th September.
