Write On

You will find attached to this Friday News a letter about our whole school focus on the enjoyment of writing. There will be lots of activities going on encouraging children to write. We have invited the author Michael Cox in to work with children and…. Well read the attached letter and find out all about this project and how you can get involved.

Year 3 Swimming

Year 3 begin their swimming lessons on Monday 13th June. Please meet Ms Busby at the Prince Regent at 8.45 am. Please wait at the entrance door with your child until Ms Busby arrives

Athletics Championships

Ms Busby has a busy week next week. As well as swimming with Year 3, Ms Busby will be taking a group of athletes from Years 5 and 6 to Withdean Stadium. The children will be competing with pupils from other schools in the Brighton Schools Athletics Championships. Good Luck to everyone competing.

Performance Arts Workshops

Years 4, 5 and 6 will be taking part in workshops on Thursday, covering a range of performance activities. Sounds like great fun for all our budding actors, dancers and musicians. Ms Whiting has organised the workshops which are run by ‘Theatre Workshops in Schools’. Ms Whiting says please ensure children are wearing suitable clothing as stated in the earlier letter.

Lost Property and Lunchboxes

We seem to have rather a lot of lost property and abandoned lunchboxes. It seems a shame that so much clothing etc is left unclaimed especially as some are expensive items. Please check the lost property basket regularly to help us keep the mountain of clothing etc under control.

Visit to Sussex University

A group of children visited Sussex University with Mr Dyer. They met a Nobel Prize winner and asked lots of questions as well as passing on some handy scientific hints to help him with his work. They were also involved in undertaking some interesting scientific experiments. The group were able to show just how very knowledgeable they are. All adults involved were very impressed with the children’s skills and understanding of scientific concepts. Well done to all!

Congratulations to…..

Ariel Matsui-Le Roy in Year 2 for gaining his Yellow Belt in Karate on 29th May. Well done Ariel!
Well done Sophie Walters, also in Year 2 for passing your Royal Academy of Dance Primary Classical Ballet exam, with merit.

Please Note there will be NO CABINETS AND PODS CLUB ON MONDAY 13th JUNE AND TUESDAY 14TH JUNE.

Friday News

Please remember if your Friday News does not arrive home after school on a Friday that it is also available on the school website. A spare copy can also be collected from the office. All children are encouraged to ensure they pass on the Friday News to you on a Friday as it contains a lot of very important information. Many children arrived at school on our recent INSET day even though the INSET date had been given in at least 3 Friday News leading up to half term. So please remind your child to hand that Friday News over!

Thank you

I would just like to take this opportunity to say thank you for the many kind and supportive words I have received from you all since my appointment as Headteacher. I have been truly touched by the whole experience. I’m really looking forward to September and building on all the good work that makes Middle Street such a special place.
