It’s Snowing!

It seems that snow has arrived! Do check that the school has an up to date mobile number for you. If the school closes because of snow problems we will text you so it’s very important we have your correct contact number on our systems. Mr Dyer will also place a message on our website informing you of school closure. I also inform local radio stations and they broadcast a list of schools that are closed but this is not very reliable as it can be very difficult contacting the stations.  You can also check the Brighton and Hove Council website as they have a list of school closures. Again it sometimes takes a while before the school appears on the list depending on when they update it.

What Do You Want To Be When You Grow Up?

Our school nurse; Gill is off soon to Argentina to do some voluntary work in an orphanage. We thought it would be nice to support Gill in this adventure and raise some money for the orphanage. So next Friday 25th January children should think about what career they are aspiring to when they grow up and dress accordingly on that day. A donation of 50p (or more if you wish) can then be made also on that day. If you are interested in talking to your child’s class about your career choice please let your class teacher know. So many of you have interesting careers that we would love to hear about so don’t be shy.

Baby Coelho

I am delighted to announce the arrival on the 17th December of baby Sid Coelho. Mrs Maddie Coelho our Year 4 teacher is over the moon with her early Christmas present. Both mother and baby are doing really well.

Parents and Carers of Key Stage 2 Children (Year 3 to Year 6)

If you need to discuss an issue with your child’s class teacher please arrange to do this at the end of the day. Teachers are not available to have discussions with parents and carers at the beginning of the day. If you need to leave a message for the teacher please do so at the office and they will pass it on. Although teaching assistants are not responsible for dealing with issues they are happy to pass on a message to the teacher.

Parent/Carer Group Meeting

We have a other parent and carer group meeting on Thursday 24th. The meeting is from 2.00 till 3.00. The focus of the meeting will be on learning to spell. So come with your experiences and with ideas and thoughts on how you would like us to support you in helping your child with learning to spell.

Magic Maths and Mystery Workshop

We had a fabulous turn out for our Magic Maths and Mystery workshop. We were all enthralled by the end of the workshop. Rob Eastaway who led the workshop has written a book which may be of interest to you if you did not attend the workshop. The book is ‘Maths for Mums and Dads’. We can order the book for you at a reduced cost of £7. Please place your order at the office if you would like a copy.
