Celebrations!

Thank you to everyone who came on Saturday to our 200 years birthday celebrations. It was fantastic! The Mayor and Mayoress stayed and enjoyed the entertainment. They had afternoon tea before moving on to another engagement. Lots of past pupils came along and met up with old friends.
We all had lots of fun. None of it would have been possible with out the hard work put in by Mr Dyer and the School Association so a very big THANK YOU to them.
Mrs Denyer is putting together a 200 Years Celebration book to commemorate the day and would very much appreciate copies of photographs taken on the day. If you are able to provide photos please hand them in at the office. Thank you

Black History Month

There are events taking place throughout October to mark Brighton and Hove Black History month. I met with Bert Williams on our celebration day. Bert has spent many years researching the multi-cultural history of Brighton. He told me lots of fascinating and amazing stories. Bert will be coming in to school after the half term to share his wonderful stories and extensive knowledge with the children and staff.

Mugs for Sale

Commemorative mugs are on sale at the office for £2.50p each.

Football News

Our team played very well on Friday at East Brighton Park. They came third and Tom Vaughan in Year 6 was our star goalkeeper. Well done to Tom and the rest of the team.

Parent Governor Elections

I am very pleased to announce we have a new parent governor. Chatna Parmar has been elected. Chatna would like to thank every one who voted for her.

Mad Hat Day

The children (and grown ups) have enjoyed wearing their mad hats. There have been some very imaginative hats. Some hats have made it difficult to recognise who’s wearing them! It’s all been great fun and I’m sure we have raised lots of money for the Monsoon Trust.

Walking for Charity

Georgia and Ateya Marshall and Zoe Ward walked from the King Alfred Leisure complex to the Marina to raise money for Breast Cancer Care. They raised over £100.00. Well done to you all, that’s a long walk!

Dinner Money Increase

There will be an increase in dinner money starting after half term. A school dinner is now £1.50p per day or if you prefer to pay weekly, £7.50p per week.

Please could Reception parents who collect children at lunchtime please remember to ensure the main gate is closed securely when leaving. Thank you.

New Deputy Headteacher

I am very pleased to announce Mr Shaun Collins has been appointed as the new Deputy Headteacher from January 2006. He will be visiting Middle Street before then to meet the staff and children. He is looking forward to meeting you all.
