Also check the Friday News for information on tickets for the shows.

Message from Staff at Bignor

Before the half term holiday year 3 visited Bignor Roman villa and had a very enjoyable day. When they returned we received a phone call from the staff at the villa to congratulate the class on their exceptional behaviour. So very well done Year 3 it is so great that your excellent attitude and mature behaviour has been recognised particularly from staff at Bignor who have very high expectations of their visitors.

Migrant Helpline Assembly

Representatives from the Migrant Helpline gave a presentation to Key Stage 2 children on Tuesday morning. They discussed how we could make new comers to our country feel welcomed, safe and comfortable. Years 5 and 6 then attended workshops exploring what it might feel like to leave their home country, what they might leave and what they would take with them.

‘Mischief’ at the Dome

Years 5 and 6 visited the Dome to watch a dance performance of ‘Mischief’ on Thursday. They will be taking part in a follow up workshop next week. They will also be attending a performance of ‘Young Hamlet’ on 14th November and taking a tour backstage of the Dome complex on 3rd December. If parents are interested in joining the class on these visits please let Mr Collins or Mr Dawson know.

The visits and workshops are all part of a programme running in Brighton and Hove encouraging young people to have a broader experience and understanding of the theatre. Sounds brilliant!

Year 5 ‘Do Lunch’ at Nandos

Year 5 must be worn out this week as they have also been on a visit to ‘Nandos’ where they toured the kitchens, had a talk about health and food hygiene and then had lunch. Their visit was all part of their literacy work on writing instructions. Who said the literacy curriculum was boring!
