School Sports Partnership Funding Withdrawn

You may be aware that funding for School Sport Partnerships is to be withdrawn following the government spending review and that in a similar move, ring fenced funding for Sports Colleges is to be scrapped. The implications for us at Middle Street (as well as the rest of Brighton and Hove) are devastating. Our link has been with Dorothy Stringer secondary school (who has sports college status) who we have worked very closely with to provide a huge range of sporting activities. The loss to us as a school will be great. All the events we attend outside of school are under threat (Lets Dance festival, football tournaments and other competitions) as well as support in school via training, coaches and after school clubs. I am sure you value these sporting opportunities as much as we do so you may like to respond by contacting your local MP and other political figures to register your concerns about these cuts. You can also register your concern by signing up to the national facebook which is supported by Olympic champions and celebrities such as Eddie Izzard. I and other Head teachers will also be looking at what action we can take.
