11th March 2005

It’s Red Nose Day

There has been a lot of very bad hair around today, and some quite alarming clothes too! We should have raised a good deal of money for Comic Relief, if you haven’t made a donation, you can still leave money at the office on Monday.

DT Display

Hopefully, lots of you will have been in from 3.00 p.m. today to see some of the results of DT Week on display in the hall. The children had a lot of fun last week, and were able to develop their DT skills at the same time.

Middle Street School Association (MSSA)

There has been an amazing revival of the School Association, now known as MSSA. A newsletter will be coming home next week with the names of the class parent reps and an outline of some of the events planned for the rest of the year. Two important fundraisers are:
The Enormous Easter Egg Raffle
This will take the tried and tested successful formula – please send into the office donations of Easter Eggs, and raffle tickets will be on sale until the raffle is drawn on Wednesday 23rd March.
Year 3 Cake Sale – Next Friday 18th March
Please send in donations of cakes, biscuits and other goodies for a table sale next Friday. They don’t have to be home made, although if you are able to bake, than that would be great. This is for Year 3 this time, other classes to follow.

Cleaning / Odd Job Person Vacancy

We urgently need a cleaner for 2 hours, 2 days per week, Monday and Friday after school. The hourly rate is from £5.86. If you know anyone who could do this, and also carry out some odd jobs on a claims basis, please let Gill Brill in the office know.

Active Kids Vouchers

Mrs Busby has registered the school to accept the Sainsbury’s Active Kids vouchers. Please send any that you collect to the office. Thank you.

Year 4 Pyke House Payments

The next instalment is now due; please make your payments to the office staff as soon as possible.

Big Foot Drama Workshop – Years 1 and 2

This exciting workshop next Wednesday morning is being funded through the school’s participation in the Excellence in Cities cluster.

Year 6 Brazilian Football Tournament

Some children from Year 6 will be going to Sussex University to take part in a Brazilian Football tournament next Wednesday after school.

Festival Parade Workshop

On Tuesday 15th March from 9.00 a.m. there will be the first workshop to prepare for the Children’s Parade. All parents and carers are welcome. The snake centrepiece for our Jungle Book theme will begin to take shape, do come along and join in with the fun.

Dates For Your Diary

School finishes on Wednesday 23rd March; the Easter holiday starts on Thursday 24th March. Children return to school on Monday 11th April.

And Finally….…

On a personal note, I would like to thank all of you who have congratulated me on my new appointment as Headteacher of Woodingdean Primary School from September, and also say how touched I have been by your kind comments.
