Music Celebration

It was wonderful to see so many family members joining us to celebrate Music at Middle Street. It was so good to share with you the fantastic range of musical activities that the children have been experiencing in their music lessons with Mr Brazil. What an incredible performance it was from all of the children from Nursery to Year 6.

Well Done to Felix Haxby in Year 3, who has recently won a “Chess for Wizards” Tournament. Congratulations you are very clever.

200 years of Middle Street

The celebrations to mark this important event are being organised by a very hard working group of parent volunteers, and Mr Dyer, along with help from staff from the Museum Service.
The exhibition at Brighton Museum to celebrate the bicentenary will open on Tuesday 12th July, but there is a special “private viewing” for Middle Street children families and staff from 3.30 until 7.00 pm. on that evening.

A special competition is being organised for the children to design a symbol for Middle Street to represent the next 200 years, or to write a new motto. Details are coming home.

MSSA News

There will be a meeting at Starbucks on Wednesday 29th June at 9.15 am to discuss how the MSSA can contribute to the 200 year celebrations on 15th October.
The Bugsy Malone Film night was a tremendous success – lots of children enjoyed the film, and the bar did a roaring trade. Over £300 was raised to add to the £2000 already in the kitty for new adventure playground equipment.
Thanks to everyone who helped to make it such a successful event.

Athletics Championships

Did you see the photo in the Argus on Wednesday, showing some of the children with the medals they had won in the Athletics Championships? They won a superb total of 9 bronze, 19 silver and 10 gold medals! This haul included the very impressive gold, silver and bronze won by Harlem, Declan and David in the Open boys’ 800 metre run.

Year 2 Cake Sale

It’s time for another cake sale, outside on the main playground straight after school today – come and buy! All proceeds to MSSA funds.

Special EiC ICT event

Five children from our Year 5 have been working all day with children from a range of other schools on a special ICT project with Mr Dyer and Mrs Zadeh. They have been taking digital photographs and working on them back here at school. It all looks very interesting.

Abseil for CLIC

Four teachers from the school are taking part in a sponsored abseil down Peacehaven Cliffs on Saturday July 9th in aid of the charity CLIC. I will be doing it, so will Julie Aldous, Julie Layzell and Mick Brazil. We would really appreciate your support with sponsorship, as we need to raise at least £400 between us.
It will make it even more worthwhile if we can raise as much money as possible. CLIC have been very supportive to Kaia in Year 5 and her family during her treatment for leukaemia. Kaia will not be in school for a while, and this is a very practical way of showing our support and letting her know that we are always thinking of her. Thank you.
