Sad Farewells at Afternoon Tea

Mary Noble and Polly Dyer celebrated their retirement at yesterday’s Afternoon tea. Governors and Parents presented them both with lots of lovely presents. There were also several speeches which highlighted very clearly the appreciation everyone has for their dedication and commitment for ensuring that children at Middle Street had a happy and positive start to education. Polly and Mary have asked me to pass on to you their heartfelt thanks for the many, many kind words and brilliant presents.

Open Afternoon

Yesterday was also Open Afternoon. Lots of parents and carers came in to look at the Learning Journey books and other school work.

End of Year Magical Treat for Year 6

On Wednesday Year 6 enjoyed a picnic on the beach and visit to the cinema for the first screening of the new Harry Potter film. Their treat was paid for by the school to say thank you for their many contributions to Middle Street and for simply being a wonderful Year 6. We shall all miss them very much when they leave next week.

Congratulations to both classes.
The overall winners for this term are Year 2 and Year 4. Both classes are awarded £25 to spend on something of their own choice for the classroom. Both classes will take their winnings up to their new year groups. Well done to Year 2 and Year 4. I wonder who will win next term?

Year 3 Challenge

Year 3 have been set a challenge which they plan to carry out on Monday. Working with their parents and carers they must design and construct something which will enable them to save Ms Moriarty. Ms Moriarty will have collapsed on the playground and the only way she can be saved is by the children getting a crème egg to her from the staffroom window down to the playground where she will have collapsed. I have already seen some very interesting contraptions being tested.

And Finally…..

Well this is the last Friday News for this term. It has been another wonderful and busy year here at Middle Street. The children have produced some amazing work from their Learning Journeys and have especially enjoyed all the school trips linked to their learning. We have taken part in and competed really well in several great sporting events. To think our Tag Rugby team almost made it to Twickenham! We all feel so lucky to work in a school with such brilliant children and their supportive parents and carers. We are saying goodbye to members of staff and to Year 6 and we are also saying goodbye to one or two children in other year groups. Good luck and all the best for the future to all of you. If you are a parent or carer saying a final goodbye, then thanks for your support over the years. Finally, thank you to the rest of you, have a lovely summer break and see you all in September.

Stunning Summer Fair!

We had brilliant weather and a fantastic summer fair. Everything about it was perfect. The talent show was compered by Mark Williams who also kept us amused with his jokes. The winners of the ‘Middle Street’s Got Talent’ show were Anna Meejinda and Olivia Whitfield. Anna and Olivia are both in Reception and together they sung ’ Mama Mia’. Well done girls your singing was fantastic! All the children who entered were awarded a certificate for taking part.
We also enjoyed a performance from last years winner; Lucy McGeachin who played her guitar and sung a selection of songs some of which were written by Lucy herself. We were all star struck by her talent and confidence. I have offered to be her agent!
Thank you everyone who put in so much time and effort to make the fair such a success and thank you everyone who came along and joined in the fun and supported the school by raising over £3000. How fantastic is that!
