Disability Equality Duty

Amendments have been made to the Disability Discrimination Act which now require public bodies to positively and actively promote disability equality. Primary Schools are obligated to have a short and long term plan detailing how they will meet the duty. This plan must be in place by December. At Middle Street we have begun this process and will have a plan in place before the beginning of December. We are very positive about the act and how it fits very well with our school vision of inclusion. There is still a lot for us to do here at Middle Street to promote disability equality and we will be keeping you up to date with progress. In the Spring Term we will asking parents/carers, staff, governors and children to help us identify further areas for development.
