Healthy Living Week

The children have been busy this week making healthy food and finding out how to live a healthy lifestyle. They have joined in with a variety of sporting activities in the hall and produced some interesting work on healthy living in general.

Bowling with Year 6

Year 6 were able to demonstrate a variety of interesting bowling techniques yesterday at the Marina Bowlplex. Ms McNally, Mr Collins, Mrs Walker, Ms Perry and myself accompanied Year 6 on their end of year outing for a couple of games of bowling. We had a thoroughly enjoyable time, which was in part paid for by Family Investments who traditionally pay for Year 6’s end of year treat. Many thanks to Family Investments from Year 6.

Preston Manor Visit

Year 5 decided to dress up in Edwardian costume despite the heat when they visited Preston Manor on Tuesday. The children joined in with activities that demonstrated what life and work was like many years ago. I believe they now know of many handy cleaning tips that could come in useful at home!

Royal Pavilion Visit

Year 2 had a guided tour of the Royal Pavilion on Tuesday. Ms Whiting and the Guide were very impressed with the children’s knowledge as they toured the Pavilion and asked and answered questions about its history. Year 2 produced some excellent sketches of the Pavilion and also enjoyed a picnic in the Pavilion gardens.

Green News

We thought you may be interested to know there are birds nesting in the school gardens. There are two Wood Pigeons and a fledgling thrush. Please don’t disturb them although they have coped very well so far with the hustle and bustle of school life.

Please return all school library books to the office or child’s classroom as soon as possible.

The School Association have raised £893 for school funds as a result of their Cinema Night and Summer Fair. We would all like to say to all members of the School Association a big THANK YOU!

Well, this is the last Friday News for this academic year. The year has just flown by but it has been fantastic! I feel very lucky to be the Headteacher of such a special and happy school. Thank you to all the children who make the school such a great place to be, to all the parents and carers for your encouragement and support (the School Association for all their hard work fund raising and the Governors for their support) and to all the staff who work so hard but always with a smile even when it’s really hot!
And finally a reminder in case you have forgotten, we finish for the summer break on Wednesday 26th July and open again for the new term on Wednesday 6th September. Have fun and a great summer holiday.

The project is providing the school with cycle racks, cycle proficiency training and is also able to offer adults and children discount prices for bicycles. The school joins the project in September.
